Stone carving is a skill in its own right, practised here in the heart of Northumberland.

For as long as people have worked with stone, there's been a division of labour. Stonemasons turn a rough block into something perfectly square, or any other symmetrical shape, using squares, straight edges and tape measures. Stone carvers work differently - they can't rely on tools alone. They depend on vision, seeing the finished result before they can carve it. It's a truly unique skill.

From decorative plinths and gate piers to one-off garden features, every piece is shaped and finished by hand in our Berwick-upon-Tweed workshop. If you have a design in mind - however unusual - we'll work with you to carve it into reality.
